Setting up SSO to Code Classroom for students requires configuration in both your school or district’s SSO provider, as well as Code Classroom. This article will help you understand the 2 areas which must be configured:
1. Enabling SSO login for Code Classroom in your SSO provider
2. Configuring Code Classroom to authorize students from your SSO provider
Enabling SSO for Code Classroom in your SSO provider
Code Classroom currently supports SSO via Google Workspace, with additional providers planned for the future
Configuring for Google Workspace
If your workspace restricts what applications can be used by accounts, you will need to add the Raspberry Pi Foundation Accounts app to the allow list. See Control which third-party & internal apps access Google Workspace data.
Configuring Code Classroom to Authorize Students
Owner/Admin users of a school will have access to the School Settings view in Code Classroom, which will allow them to configure SSO settings for students for that school. The instructions below detail how to connect Code Classroom to your school or district’s SSO provider.
Before you start, you will need to:
- Have a school created
- Be the owner of that school
- Have the URL of the SSO domain you wish to use
- Log in to Code Classroom and navigate to your school
- On the school landing page click the School Settings button
- In the School Settings page click the SSO for Students tab
- Click the Add SSO Domain button

Enter the SSO domain of your school or district’s SSO provider
- Note: you may add more domains if your school or district uses multiple domains
- Save your changes
Upon completing these steps, students logged in to your school or district’s SSO provider will now be able to log into Code Classroom using their school email address
SSO Provider Support
Code Classroom supports oAuth 2.0 authorization protocols. Currently this support is provided for Google Workspace, and additional options will become available in the future.
